About Us

Why RuckIT exists

RuckIT started the way a lot of rugby conversations do… with people arguing about the game over a beer.

Eventually, those conversations turned into something more.

We’re a small group of rugby supporters who love the game and enjoy digging a little deeper into it. We wanted to create a place where rugby could be discussed properly — without shouting for attention, chasing controversy or treating every opinion like a hot take.

So we built RuckIT.

We’re not a media conglomerate, and we’re not trying to be the loudest voice in the room. We simply enjoy rugby, and we believe the game becomes even more interesting when you understand a little more about what you’re watching.

What we’re here to do

Our aim is simple, to help people enjoy and understand rugby.

That might mean looking at why a team won a particular battle, unpacking a tactical decision, explaining a law, or taking a closer look at the numbers behind a performance.

Sometimes it’s analysis. Sometimes it’s opinion. Sometimes it’s just answering a question that comes up while watching a match.

Whatever we’re writing about, the goal is to add something useful to the conversation.

You don’t need to be a coach or a former player to enjoy the deeper side of rugby, and you don’t need to be an expert to have an opinion on it either. Whether you’ve been watching the game for thirty years or thirty days, there’s always something new to learn.

And while we love the tactical side of rugby, we haven’t forgotten that the game is about more than what happens during 80 minutes.

Rugby is built around competition, but it also has a culture that makes it special. Players can spend an entire match trying to knock each other backwards, then share a beer afterwards. You can disagree with a referee’s decision and still respect the person making it. Rivals can become teammates, and teammates can become friends for life.

That’s the side of the game we want RuckIT to reflect too.

Who this is for

RuckIT is for anyone who enjoys rugby.

It’s for the fan who wants to know why a team keeps kicking the ball away. The newcomer still trying to figure out what actually happens at a breakdown. The club player looking at the game from a different perspective. And the lifelong supporter who simply enjoys talking rugby with people who are just as invested in it.

You don’t need a particular level of knowledge to be here.

One of the best things about rugby is that there is room for everyone. Different players, different supporters, different backgrounds and different ways of seeing the game all contribute to what rugby is.

We want RuckIT to feel the same way: a place where people can learn, debate, disagree and, hopefully, enjoy the conversation.

No ego, just rugby

We’re not going to pretend that we have all the answers.

We’ll get things wrong occasionally. When we do, we’ll own it. We’d rather take the time to understand something properly than rush to be first, and we’d rather have a good discussion than win an argument.

At the end of the day, RuckIT exists because we love rugby.

If something we publish helps you understand the game a little better, see something you hadn’t noticed before, or simply gives you another excuse to talk rugby, then we’re doing what we set out to do.
